Not Just Another Pretty Face

Charcoal Lavender goat milk soap

Charcoal Lavender goat milk soap

Without sounding boastful, we get a lot of folks telling us our soaps are beautiful.  We think so too, it reflects that we just love what we do.  But sometimes they follow up that wonderful compliment telling us they don't want to use them for that reason.  We quickly respond with a big fat "thank you" and follow with the encouragement to definitely start using them!  Yes, the colorants and herbs make our soaps pretty, but they are mainly used for the benefits they add.  We also remind them that there will always be more soap available for them!

We have talked about the amazing benefits of our key ingredient, goat milk  and some of the other awesome natural ingredients so today we'd like to share a few of our most popular "go-to" colorful ingredients.

Lavender buds - It is known that lavender essential oil promotes a sense of relaxation. It can be beneficial to use soaps containing lavender before bedtime to promote a deep sleep and also it can an effective calming aid for anxiety or excessive energy in children and toddlers.  Lavender EO has strong antibacterial and antiseptic properties and can help heal many skin irritations. We often include the lavender buds which contain the same properties, and also provides gentle exfoliation, conditioning and moisturizing benefits for your skin.

Activated charcoal - The awesome black swirls you see are really a powerful natural detoxifier.  Charcoal draws impurities and toxins out of your skin which helps to relieve acne and other skin problems.  It also has antibacterial properties that can help heal wounds.  Soap that contains charcoal is a fantastic face and body bar as it even helps fight odor causing bacteria (hello armpits!).   We always recommend our Purifying bar for stubborn skin issues as it also contains Tea Tree oil for a double whammy!

Black Walnut Hull powder - This versatile colorant has anti-fungal, antiseptic, and anti-viral qualities.  It contains natural iodine, magnesium, potassium, and other awesome minerals which help aide in reducing inflammation.  It also is used in many natural remedies to treat acne, yeast infections, eczema, and psoriasis.  We use it in many of our soaps, including Sandalwood and Sandalwood & Patchouli.

Spirulina powder - Spirulina is a natural algae that is incredibly high in protein and nutrients and used by many folks who incorporate "super foods" into their diet.  But it also has amazing effects on your skin as it contains a high content of vitamin A, vitamin B-12, vitamin E, calcium, iron and phosphorus, all of which are vital for your skin’s health.  These minerals help give your skin a toned and youthful appearance.  Spirulina gives our Breathe Easy and Spearmint soap its pretty green hue.

Turmeric - this deep orange/yellow spice gently exfoliates excess skin, stimulated blood circulation and has all the antibacterial, antimicrobial and antioxidant benefits with vitamin E.  Vitamin E moisturizes and revitalizes your skin cells it further helps to battle acne and restore skin to its natural healthy glow.  Its anti-inflammatory qualities can target your pores and calm your skin.  Our Turmeric & Ginger soap is loaded with this amazing ingredient.

Various clays - Clays have been used in spas worldwide for many years.  Loaded with nutrients and minerals, they are 100% pure and natural, and their properties are desired for rejuvenating treatments.  Our top choices are Rhassoul, Kaolin, Pink and French Green clay.  We use them specifically in our shaving bars as the lather has a slippery silkiness.  This causes the razor to glide effectively which helps avoid cuts to the skin.  Clays also cleanse and detoxify the skin, remove dead skin cells and create an overall refreshed appearance.

These are just a few bonus ingredients that we add to offer you the best natural soap for you and your family.  We want you to know that our soaps are chemical free, unlike most commercially produced "soap" which contain synthetic lathering agents, artificial colors, and a slew of chemicals we can't even pronounce.  Did you know that they legally cannot even be called soap?  That's because those bars aren't actually soap; they're detergents.  They might be called beauty bars, moisturizing bars, or body bars, but not soap.

You can use our goat milk soap with confidence knowing our base recipe is only four plant-based oils and raw goat milk from the goats we raise ourselves.

Have a blessed day~
Sue & Michelle
